Love at a glimpse
What does love mean to you?
Love is often spoken of as something certain, but in reality it is experienced differently by everyone. It can be gentle or intense, visible or silent, shared or deeply personal. Perhaps love is not a fixed answer, but a collection of moments, feelings, and connections we learn to understand over time.
What does love mean to you, when everything else is stripped away?

Young Love
01
————————————
Love is not an answer, but a feeling that flows between two people.
It exists in the smallest touch—no words needed, yet already complete.

Young love is often more than romance itself. It is a slow process of learning how to let another person enter the parts of ourselves we usually keep hidden. In this chapter, a girl raised within a traditional environment struggles to express herself and remains emotionally withdrawn. Her partner becomes a gentle presence, encouraging her to step beyond her comfort zone through small moments of closeness — riding bicycles together, sharing silence, and learning how to move alongside one another. Yet intimacy is never completely peaceful. Misunderstandings and emotional distance eventually pull them apart. In the final moment, the girl rides her bicycle in search of him, and the sound of the bicycle bell becomes more than just a sound — it marks the beginning of her willingness to move toward love, and toward herself.

Family Love
02
——————————————
Family love is not always expressed gently, but it is a lasting presence that holds and guides us.
It continues in everyday silence and supports us in moments we do not notice.
Family love is not always communicated clearly through words.
Sometimes, it exists within accents, habits, silence, and emotions that cannot be fully translated across cultures.
This chapter follows a multicultural family with Maltese and Hong Kong backgrounds, where two sisters grow up between different languages and identities. Language barriers occasionally create emotional distance, leaving them with the feeling of not being fully understood by either side of the family.

The Language Between Us
At the same time, they find comfort in one another. Through English, the sisters create a small shared space where they feel understood and connected, even while navigating multiple cultural worlds.
Their grandfather reflects on the importance of communication within a family — the need to speak openly instead of hiding emotions. He also expresses his hope that the younger generation will continue carrying their language and traditions forward, not only as culture, but as a way of remembering who they are.
Family does not require complete sameness.
Sometimes, love is simply the decision to continue understanding one another despite the differences.

Self Love
03
—————————————
Self-love is not perfect self-acceptance, but choosing to embrace oneself even in uncertainty.
It unfolds in the slow process of understanding who we are, quietly but truly.
Becoming Your Own Home

Sometimes, the human mind can resemble a room left untouched for too long — dim, silent, and filled with neglected emotions. In this chapter, a girl isolates herself within an unbalanced routine. She lies in bed scrolling endlessly through her phone, disconnected from both her surroundings and herself. The curtains remain closed, preventing light from entering the space around her. Until one day, she begins to change it. She opens the curtains, cleans her room, rearranges her environment, and slowly reconnects with herself through small and deliberate actions. What appears ordinary becomes symbolic of emotional restoration. Self-love is not always dramatic transformation. Often, it is simply the decision to care for oneself again — to allow light back into life. The final polaroid photograph becomes a quiet reminder that healing is rarely done alone. Through memory, friendship, and connection, we slowly learn how to become a home for ourselves.
